SAP and Microsoft Expand Strategic Collaboration: SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Microsoft Fabric
At the Microsoft Ignite conference in San Francisco, SAP and Microsoft announced a new stage of their partnership-the launch of SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) Connect for Microsoft Fabric. This solution introduces a significantly simpler and faster way to work with high-quality, semantically structured SAP data without the need to duplicate or move it.
According to Muhammad Alam, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, the deepening of integration between SAP BDC and Microsoft Fabric will enable companies to leverage their data more effectively for real business outcomes in analytics and artificial intelligence.
Scott Guthrie, Executive Vice President of Microsoft Cloud and AI, emphasized: “Unifying operational, analytical, and application data is the key to accelerating AI adoption. Joint SAP and Microsoft solutions will help organizations make decisions faster and turn data into valuable business insights.”
New Capabilities Without Unnecessary Data Replication
The integration of SAP BDC Connect for Microsoft Fabric provides instant, secure, enterprise-grade access to SAP data without the typical delays associated with moving or copying data.
The bi-dynamic, zero-copy data exchange technology between SAP BDC and Microsoft Fabric enables organizations to:
- use SAP data directly in Microsoft OneLake-an AI-ready data hub;
- enrich SAP Business Data Cloud with external datasets from OneLake;
- combine SAP information with other sources through Fabric’s data engineering, data warehousing, and Power BI capabilities;
- incorporate SAP data into AI solution development within Microsoft AI Foundry;
- provide access to corporate data for millions of users across Excel, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 products.
How the SAP and Microsoft Fabric Integration Accelerates Analytics and AI
The new solution creates a unified, consistent foundation of enterprise data and offers businesses a range of advantages:
- Building a semantically consistent dataset from SAP and third-party sources.
- Advanced analytics and natural-language interaction with corporate information through Copilot in Microsoft Power BI.
- Development of AI applications and agents powered by real, business-critical data.
- Collaborative operation of intelligent agents across M365 Copilot and SAP Joule for a seamless user experience.
Availability
General availability of SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Microsoft Fabric is expected in Q3 2026.
