Dialogue Between Education and Business: How to Train Talent for Ukraine’s New Economic Model
Ukraine’s post-war economy is rapidly transforming: digitalization, advanced technologies, and export-oriented business models are becoming key drivers of growth. In this context, it is critical not only to modernize enterprises but also to train professionals capable of operating effectively at the intersection of IT and business. How can the education system respond to these new challenges? And what role should business play in this process?
A strong signal that these issues are becoming a priority for all stakeholders was a professional event held in Kharkiv, which brought together leading representatives of educational institutions and IT companies. Among the participants was the founder of DIGITAL BUSINESS SOLUTIONS and an expert in implementing ERP solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine and Europe.
Special attention at the event was given to aligning educational programs with the practical implementation of modern ERP and BI systems, which have already become the standard for enterprise management. This approach enables students to gain hands-on experience with corporate IT platforms during their studies and better understand the logic of managing real-world businesses.
The participation of the CEO of DIGITAL BUSINESS SOLUTIONS also demonstrated the company’s readiness to continue supporting the development of dual education, share practical enterprise automation cases, and contribute to shaping a new generation of professionals capable of working effectively at the intersection of IT and business in the context of Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery.
Ukraine’s education system is currently facing a serious challenge: how to train specialists who meet the demands of the new economic realities. This issue was the focus of a working visit by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykola Trofymenko to Kharkiv. One of the key venues of the meeting was Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, where a panel discussion took place with participation from universities, IT businesses, and professional associations on the development of dual education.
At the center of the discussion was the dual education model as the foundation for preparing specialists for the post-war economy. This model предусматривает close cooperation among four stakeholders:
▪ business participates in shaping educational programs to ensure graduates have relevant practical skills;
▪ universities provide systematic fundamental training and academic quality;
▪ the state establishes clear mechanisms for implementing and scaling dual education;
▪ students receive not only theoretical knowledge but also real experience working with modern technologies and business processes.
Systematic work in this direction is already being carried out by the Kharkiv IT Cluster. Together with member companies, the cluster updates the content of IT disciplines, initiates the development of professional standards, engages businesses in designing educational programs, and invests in faculty development. This approach brings the educational process as close as possible to the real challenges of the labor market.
The event was attended by representatives of leading technology and legal companies as well as educational institutions, including EPAM Ukraine, NIX Ukraine, the Attorneys’ Association Belpart, and the National Aerospace University “KhAI”.
Strategic messages on the role of business in shaping a modern educational ecosystem were delivered by Oleksandr Medovoi (AltexSoft) and Valery Krasovsky (Sigma Software Group), who shared practical experience in collaborating with universities and developing industry talent capacity.
The discussion confirmed that Ukraine’s post-war economy will require not just IT specialists, but experts who understand business processes, analytics, data management, and enterprise digital transformation. Therefore, the development of dual education is becoming a strategic priority, as it synchronizes business expectations with educational program content, reducing the gap between academic training and real market requirements.
DIGITAL BUSINESS SOLUTIONS systematically supports the development of practice-oriented education and the training of professionals who meet the needs of modern business. As an expert in implementing SAP Business One, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other digital transformation solutions, the company shares real automation cases with educational institutions, modern approaches to business process management, and best practices for working with corporate IT systems.
We are convinced that only the combination of fundamental education and real experience with ERP and BI platforms can produce specialists capable of effectively developing Ukrainian companies and integrating them into the global digital economy.
