SAP and Alibaba Group Form Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Global Cloud Transformation
SAP and Alibaba Group have announced a strategic alliance aimed at accelerating global business transformation in the cloud. As part of this collaboration, Alibaba Group will integrate SAP Cloud ERP, Private Edition into its corporate IT infrastructure and jointly develop a go-to-market strategy with SAP to deliver new value to customers worldwide.
Intelligent Infrastructure for Global Business
Alibaba – the Chinese technology giant renowned for its innovations in e-commerce and cloud computing – will deploy SAP Business Suite, enabling:
- Faster system servicing and updates
- Deeper integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into business processes
- Enhanced stability and flexibility of enterprise infrastructure
Under this partnership, Alibaba also plans to implement SAP Business AI, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Ariba, SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP), SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Concur, and SAP Emarsys to optimize resource management, procurement, HR operations, analytics, and customer experience.

A New Chapter in a Long-Term Partnership

The first phase will target the Chinese market, with plans to expand into Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa in subsequent stages.
Integration of Local AI Solutions
SAP is also exploring the integration of Alibaba’s large language model Qwen into SAP AI Core in China. This will give customers access to localized generative AI capabilities directly within the SAP ecosystem, allowing the development of tailored business applications.
In parallel, SAP is considering launching SAP AI Foundation on Alibaba Cloud, enabling users in China to leverage powerful and scalable AI tools for digital transformation.
Additionally, Alibaba will participate in the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) certification program, helping SAP enterprise customers ensure system stability and compliance with top-tier security standards.
